On a Cruise to Freak You Out

When I grow up, I'll be stable
When I grow up, I'll turn the tables

I guess this was a weird realization for me today. I mean, I know I'm getting older and I have no problems with that at this point. There are no "scary" milestones on the immediate horizon like 25 or 30 or anything like that. But... all the bands I loved as a teenager (ie. Garbage) are "taking breaks" or completely breaking up. What kind of blasphemy is this?!

In case you LIKE Garbage as well, they just took a hiatus and are apparently planning to reunite for a fifth album. Still, I can't imagine. No Garbage? The day will come, and on that day, I will feel old and /emo. I guess I thought it was weird to see the Spice Girls, who I liked as a preteen, back together too. They all look older, more mature, have children ... it's just weirdness all over the place.

Anyway. Enough of that.

I have been on a huge Garbage and Within Temptation kick lately. Sharon den Adel and Shirley Manson are my official heroines. Sharon in the video "All I Need" (on YouTube) shows a serious amount of cleavage. As someone who just had a baby, I can say in all honesty if my boobs look that hot after I give birth I will be one happy mommy. Wow!

I ordered the crib and change table/dresser the other day from Sears. They will arrive on Feb 19th and Mar 5th respectively. They are a set and black in colour. They come in a sort of oak shade as well at Toys R Us, but according to several people on the web, the stain jobs tend to be a bit sketchy and don't always match. So we figured, how hard can it be to get black right? Plus, Toys R Us won't let you open the box, and they won't let you return the product if you have, so there's no guarantee we wouldn't get a shitty stain job (like the one on display in their store). Sears, on the other hand, doesn't carry the oak colour, but will open the box for you when you pick it up to make sure it's not damaged. Sears it is.

We also have a bedroom set, that is a sort of jungle theme. It has monkeys. I have decided that even if this child does not like monkeys, while it is small enough I will inflict my love of monkeys on it. The set is really cute, and really gender neutral, so we're hoping to be able to use it for more than one kid. I find it kind of surreal buying stuff for baby at this point, and sometimes I get really emo about it.

So yeah, jungle/rainforest themes abound for baby. On Wednesday we find out girl or boy, and I refuse to guess. I hope for a boy, but I'll be happy with either. I have set aside one of our drawers for baby stuff until the baby's own dresser and crib arrives and I can start setting up a sort of nursery for it. As of yet we have not figured out where we are putting baby.

I got a B+ in my anth 349 class, which was good. It was archaeology, which is my worst subject. I went in with an A, but because I deferred the exam so long and didn't study as well as I would have liked (I lost the drive to study after class ended and I got so sick) so I only got 66% on it. I'm done my phil exam as well - and the prof, bless his soul, brought me cheese because I wasn't feeling well, as well as water while I wrote it - but no news on the grade there yet.

So, that leaves me with one final exam to go, and that's on shaky ground yet. I don't know when it will be or how hard it will be or anything like that. It's take home and I haven't gotten all the readings yet.

I have been feeling especially nostalgic lately.

That is about all. I will post again on Wednesday and let you know if I know what we are having. Maybe one day soon I will also get photographs of my expanding middle. We will see.

PS - Macaire, move to Canada, please. I need someone to go to coffee and buy baby clothes with that will keep me from going emo.

So my BFFE asks me to post, so I post.

This probably won't be long, because like usual, I R SICK. I am having a nightmarish time with morning sickness. It's not even morning sickness anymore. It's 24/7 sickness. I'm missing a lot of school to stay home and lie around in bed so I don't puke my guts up all the time. Thrilling, I know. I just hope and pray that I don't bomb this semester that has so far started off with 2 A's and a B (stupid philosophy elective).

For the most part, I'm just really nauseous all the time, but for the first time ever last night I revisited my dinner in the most unpleasant way possible. I'm hoping it doesn't become the norm, but given how I'm feeling this morning, it probably will be. I'm hoping to talk to the doctor about it soon, but Monday frankly doesn't seem soon enough, especially with a presentation to do on Friday and my project partners to meet with tomorrow.

In any case, there is not a lot other than school and sick going on in our house. We went to my grandmother's birthday on Sunday, and this older woman (I am not sure what the relation is, exactly, but probably one of my grandpa's sisters or something) asked Jay what possessed him to get married so young. That's right -- asked Jay what possessed HIM to get married so young. She told him he didn't look a day over 18 when he told her he was, in fact, 27 years old. LOL.

So I'm the cradlerobber looks-wise, I suppose, and a sick one at that. Yay world!

Recently I have been taking divalproex for my migraines/headaches. For a while it seemed to have been helping, but the last few days I've been back to having chronic headaches. Whether or not it is related to the eye infection or the cold, I don't know, but it has really been bothering me. It seemed to help so much for a while, why am I now reverting back to the old symptoms?

I'm going to give it a couple more weeks, wait until the cold is gone and see how it goes, but at this point I'm feeling a bit like I'm going to be changing medications again (for the third time).

I thought I had more to write about, but I guess I don't. I work today, and then of course all week. I might not continue to work at the Mayfair Naturalizer. I think I might just stick with Hillside, take a slight hour reduction, and have a little more time for myself.

I'm working on cleaning house and organizing everything, including our closet. I did the entertainment center too.

Anyway, I guess it's time to get ready for work. It seems as though it will be another day where I have to take tylenol just to get through it. This really blows.

So for the third time in the last year I got the wrong information from student loans.

This is so typical of them.

Anyway, long and short of it is, I don't have to pay back my loan by the end of the month. It's complicated, and they need to train their employees better, but it's fine. It'll just be an overaward and a withdrawal.

Not much I can do about it now.

I start working in 5 days. =)

Today is my mom's birthday. I spent a little too much on her. I got a couple of Jay's gifts too. Got more I want to get him, but it's a start. His birthday isn't for another couple weeks anyway.

I'm going in to get sized for contact lenses. I'm tired of glasses. I love the frames but they are always dirty and I hate cleaning them. Plus they got scratched when we took the dog to the vet to be put down (she knocked them off me and they hit the concrete) and I don't want to pay for new lenses in them anyway. And I also want to be able to wear sunglasses without them costing me $400.

Marmalade is still not feeling very good. We went and saw Dr. Rachlin today and her eye infection has persisted despite the med I was giving her. We got a new one (antibiotic and antiinflammitory in one) to give to her and we have to take another urine sample in.

I got my new bicycle, which is fun, but painful. Every muscle in my body hurts right now. Getting in shape sucks. =P Pretty soon we can start buying annuals for the garden, too, which will be nice.

I also now have the same haircut as Jay. Picture that.

So...some good stuff, some bad.

I got an A in primatology!!! That was such a brutal class, I am just so proud of myself for pulling that off. Now to just decide, cultural anthropology or primatology? Hmmmmm.

I had a brutal migraine last night and was up most of the night. Today I am exhausted, but I had a 9am appointment with the neurologist. She basically thinks that, for the most part, my migraines and chronic headaches are probably genetic, but I am going in for another CT scan to ensure that there aren't any undiagnosed aneurysms since my headaches have "changed" since my last CT scan (the frequency has increased). She is putting me on an anti-seizure medication that is also supposed to work on migraines that I will be taking in increasing doses to see if it helps at all with the chronic headaches. She also gave me a new medication to "abort" migraines once I get them.

Apparently people who get migraines often start to "blur" their headaches together. Some people just get attacks that come one day and are gone, but if you get them for long enough eventually you can just chronically have a headache. That is sort of where I'm at. Unfortunately the medication actually causes weight loss, so I need to increase my intake of proteins and "good" fats, as well as drink plenty of fluids (especially those high in potassium). So, I'm going to be living on orange juice I suppose.

After that, we went to Costco. Now I have a little bit to wait until I go to my appointment with the nutritionist, who I am to inform of the changes in my medications/dietary needs. After that, we get cat food, pick some stuff up from M&M meats, pick up my perscription, and I pretty much plan to crash.

I picked up a book at Costco about a boy soldier from Sierra Leone. Mom got a couple gifts for Jay's birthday. I got a pair of khaki capris (that are too big, I might have to exchange them) and some socks.

I might have two job opportunities this summer, which would be a big help. If I can get a full time job, I won't go to school. If I can't, I'll still go to school. I need the money badly. My computer needs to be replaced, I want to get a bicycle, and I'd like to get clothes for myself and Jay (our wardrobes are pretty bare these days). I'd also love to take Jay to Banff sometime this summer to see my family since he has never been there.

I have a few more days of my antibiotic yet, and still have this cough. Hope it goes away soon.

So... not much new, really. I fed Shamrock some banana this morning and she went crazy for it. Silly rabbit. My mom has been talking about putting Marmalade to sleep because she has been peeing on the mat outside the litterbox which is just ridiculous. She wouldn't, though, without me, and I would never let her.

Last exam tomorrow...so much reading to do...bah!

It shouldn't be too bad, just need to read over the notes and stuff, and finish reading the book, and then I'll be set.

I've had a lung infection the last week or so. Well actually I've had it about 3 weeks in varying forms (started with a weird tickle in the throat, no cough, made my voice break sometimes - then the cough). Taking antibiotics but still coughing relatively uncontrollably especially at night. It doesn't help that I haven't been sleeping well.

On Friday I go see both the nutritionist and the neurologist, which hopefully will bring about some help with the headaches. Yesterday we started working in the garden, tidying up a bit and watering the roses. We also washed the car since the wedding (almost a year - lol - it was pretty dirty). We won't get to start any "real" work back there until we have a little bit of money.

Also hoping to get a bicycle so we can go for bike rides/roller blades. Jay rollerblades, I don't! But I can bike just fine.

Everyone is well otherwise, although hay fever is in full swing for Jay now, poor baby.

It turns out I got an 86% on that paper. =P Talk about surprising.

No word yet on the primatology project - our prof said today she hasn't had the chance to look at them yet. She talked about Orangutans in class today and asked me quite a lot of questions to answer for the class, alongside my partner.

Jay got a new haircut today and he looks soooooo handsome. I'll try and get pictures later of our new hair cuts.

Indigo passed away peacefully tonight. It was very serene and dignified, she basically lay down like she always did in the window with my mother at her head. It was fast, mom and I cried a lot, and even the vet cried a bit.

Jay took good care of us and now I'm struggling to work on my primatology project while jay studies.

it's unbelievably weird, ten years and gone. it will take a while to sink in. but I am glad it was quiet and peaceful and she just went to sleep.

RIP Indigo, I miss you already.

So I had a huge blowout with my mom last night because she booked indigo in to be put to sleep today at 11 and wasn't going to change the appointment to allow Jay and I to go.

I got really mad at her. She was being selfish and inconsiderate and I told her so. Finally this morning she let me change the appointment. She kept making these awful excuses, like "grandma is meeting me there" and "the ADT guy is coming from 2-4". Well...you know what, they can be rebooked. This is our dog here...we wanted to be there to say goodbye. as a side note, she "made" me phone my grandma and tell her it was changed, too, and my grandma honestly couldn't have given a fuck less when it was, she was fine either way.

I changed it to today at 5:30, which...I mean, it's a better appointment time but it's still devastating and I don't know what to think. I want to be there for her, I know that much, it's just going to be really hard. And my mom is only making it more difficult.

Anyway...time to try and truck through school today. I feel like shit, I had the worst migraine and stuff last night, I'm absolutely sick over it. So is Jay.

She is having trouble getting around and is clearly pained a lot of the time.

Not sure what to think about it. We've known for a while. Still, I've never had anything more than a fish die, really... aside from my grandmas dogs, but it's not the same. This is my dog.

Marmalade better live a good long time.
So it turns out I got 84% on my 338 midterm and 82% on the 350 midterm I thought I totally bombed.

And 14/15 on my assignment 2 for soci, which brings me to 19% out of the 20% the assignments have been worth so far.

My rescheduled soci 100 midterm is now not until next week, so aside from papers/projects...

I got me some free time, baby! Huzzah!

We picked up a new cellular telephone. It's brand new so one can hope that this one will not die within 2 minutes like the old one was starting to. We also got one for my mother (she is increasingly concerned that Indigo will not make it home from one of their walks, especially after yesterday - the dog did not want to go for a walk). People are welcome to call us at it if they need to, but it's a very small shared rate plan mostly for emergencies at this point. You can also text me, amg! >.>

We're on a shared plan, so unlimited calls between us. Woo.

Ok, time to go do fun stuff!
